Community & Mental Health Support Across the Archdiocese of New York

Below is a list of external resources available to individuals and families throughout the ten counties of the Archdiocese of New York. These organizations are independent from our network and may provide additional mental health, social, and community-based support.

Mobile Crisis Team - a group of behavioral health professionals — such as social workers, peer specialists and family peer advocates — who can provide care and short-term management for people who are experiencing severe behavioral crisis. Service are primarily provided in people's homes, as well as in schools for children experiencing crisis. Mobile Crisis Teams are available in all five boroughs.

211 - connects New Yorkers to local resources and services --- including food, housing, mental health support, and more. It's free, confidential, and available 24/7 in multiple languages. The Bronx

Catholic Charities Community Services: South Bronx - The CCCS South Bronx office functions as a one-stop center for the community to find services, information and a place to resolve problems with experts in their field. It also houses the Food Hub that redistributes food to pantries throughout the Bronx.

New York Psychotherapy & Counseling Center - non-profit, community-oriented mental health organization, licensed by the New York State Office of Mental Health. Provides mental health services for children, adolescents, and adults. Offices in Bronx, Brooklyn, and Queens.

New York (Manhattan)

Catholic Charities of NY - helps solve the problems of New Yorkers in need, non-Catholics and Catholics alike. The neglected child, the homeless family, the immigrant and refugee, the person with special needs, and the hungry senior are among those for whom we provide help and create hope – with compassion and respect.

NYS Office of Mental Health: Manhattan Psychiatric Center - offers comprehensive care and treatment for adults with mental illness. Provides inpatient treatment, community and outpatient programs. Serves Manhattan and the Greater NYC region.

Putnam County

Catholic Charities Neighborhood Center - Located in downtown Brewster, the CCCS Putnam County office functions as a one-stop center for the community to find services, information and a place to resolve problems with experts in their field. There is a weekly Spanish speaking mothers’ group that meets to learn about community resources, offer each other support and learn from presenters about topics they choose, such as: health, their rights and responsibilities as tenants; the American school system, among others. We also host local ESOL classes and specialists in obtaining Food Stamps.

NAMI Putnam County

Putnam Rose House - a hospital diversion service that is a self-referral short-term stay residence. It is a multi-purpose center where adults (ages 18+) experiencing psychiatric and/or emotional distress can go to receive help on a 24/7/365 basis.

Rockland County

Catholic Charities Community Services of Rockland County - Food pantry, eviction prevention, SNAP education & assistance, case management, addressing homelessness, and immigration legal services.

Mental Health Provider Agencies & Resources

Rockland Psychiatric Center - one of 24 state-run psychiatric facilities in New York State. We provide treatment, rehabilitation, and support to adults 18 and older with serious mental illness. In collaboration with local agencies, our goal is to ensure long-lasting recovery and support. Areas served Rockland, Westchester, Orange, Sullivan, Putnam, Dutchess, and Ulster Counties and the Greater NYC Region.

Ulster County

Catholic Charities of Orange, Sullivan, & Ulster - committed to providing help and creating hope for the marginalized and vulnerable members of our community in Orange, Sullivan, and Ulster Counties. We offer a helping hand and a caring heart to those suffering from the disease of addiction, to families and individuals struggling with poverty, including emergency food and shelter assistance, and to immigrants navigating the journey to citizenship. We are committed to enhancing and improving the quality of life for the residents of Orange, Sullivan, and Ulster Counties.

Woodstock Manor - The Woodstock Manor Community Residence (WMCR) is a 21-bed residence licensed by the NY State Office of Mental Health. We are located in the Hudson Valley, neighboring the historic town of Woodstock, NY. Woodstock Manor specializes in creating a structured and supportive environment for adults who are suffering from severe and persistent mental illnesses including Schizophrenia, Bipolar Disorder, Schizoaffective Disorder, or Severe Depression. 

If your church is located in Brooklyn or Queens, you are able to get mental health services through Diocese of Brooklyn under Catholic Charities of Brooklyn & Queens.

If your church is located in Long Island, you are able to get mental health services through the Diocese of Rockville Centre under Catholic Charities of Long Island.

Dutchess County

Catholic Charities Community Services of Dutchess County - Providing comprehensive human services for our Dutchess County neighbors in need, Catholic and non-Catholic alike.

211 Hudson Valley Region - helpline offers health and human services information, referral, assessment and crisis support to help callers find the assistance they need to address the everyday challenges of living, as well as those that develop during times of disaster and other community emergencies.

Academy House Community Residence - an 18-bed residence in the historic district of Poughkeepsie. We are a Level II program, licensed by the New York State Office of Mental Health. Academy House specializes in creating a supportive, empathetic environment for adults over the age of 24 who are living with severe and persistent mental health diagnoses. We provide a structured yet home-like atmosphere with 24/7 supervision and medication management. Academy House is one of the few long-term residential housing options available for individuals who require ongoing supervision and care in NY. Our facility has been caring for individuals with mental illness for over 45 years.

Orange County

Richmond County (Staten Island)

Catholic Charities of Staten Island - it seeks to promote family life, create a caring and healing community, and to allow all those it serves the realization of their God-give potential. The Mission strives in all its programs to promote the universal ideals of justice, peace and compassion and to work in concert with other community resources.

Our services include infant and pre-school day care; residential and other programs for developmentally challenged youth; social services to families in crisis, assistance to senior citizens, and a free community resource center to bridge the gap between addiction and recovery.

Sullivan County
